September 2024: Scored Reviews, Los Angeles and Cold-Water Pools
In September 2024 we introduced scored reviews, finished the city of Los Angeles and continued through California. Our Pools of the Month are two English outdoor pools that ease swimmers into cold water.
September 2024 brought scored reviews to every listing. This pool listings update also covers our progress through California and two outdoor pools in England that suit cold-water swimming.
Scored reviews
In early September we introduced scored reviews. You can now rate a pool with stars and add a few words about what you liked and what you did not like. We found a few problems in the way the feature works and are fixing them. One is that, where a reviewer had not chosen a star rating, the system sometimes gave the review a half-star on its own. We plan to correct that shortly.
Star ratings will only tell swimmers something once enough reviews come in, so we hope you will rate the pools you swim in. A rating and a sentence or two make it easier for other swimmers to decide which of the options available to them is best.
Listing checks
We are well into our review of the listings in California. The city of Los Angeles is done, but Los Angeles County has about 250 listings and about 80 of them remain. Across California's roughly 1,100 listings, about 800 remain to be reviewed.
Pools of the Month
Two outdoor pools in England caught our eye in September: the Ingleton Outdoor Swimming Pool near the Yorkshire Dales National Park in the north, and Arundel Lido in the south. Both let swimmers move gradually from heated water to cold water. Read why we chose them.
