June 2026: Texas Review, Next-Version Plans and Cold-Water Pools
In June 2026 we began daily meetings on the next version of Places2Swim, reached Harris County in our Texas review and added 34 listings. Our Pools of the Month are three unheated English venues.
In our June 2026 pool listings update, we report on early work for the next version of Places2Swim and on our review of Texas. We also feature three unheated swimming venues in England.
Site activity
During June we began a series of daily online meetings with our principal programmer to work through the many issues involved in setting up a new website. The next version of Places2Swim is planned to add the ability to:
- receive and display photographs of pools;
- add and display open water swimming venues; and
- filter listings by whether they are pools or open water sites, by length, by indoor or outdoor location, by type (public, private, hotel, YMCA and others), by the types of teams the pools host (Masters, triathlon, youth, water polo, diving, artistic swimming and others), and by whether a pool has diving boards and platforms.
It is a large project, and we are introducing new elements along with new interfaces and new capabilities.
Listing reviews
We have reviewed the listings in all Texas counties through Hale County and have started checking the listings in Harris County, where Houston is located. Progress on reviews has been slower because of the other work under way.
Pools of the Month
Three facilities in England came to our attention in June, and all three are unheated and set to be open year-round. They are Sea Lanes Canary Wharf in London, Hilsea Lido in Portsmouth and the Denham Waterski Club in Uxbridge. Read about all three.
