April 2024: New Site Pages Written and 26 Net New Listings
In April 2024 we wrote the About Us and FAQ pages for the new version of the site, reviewed part of Washington State and added a net 26 listings, a third of the new pools in hotels.
Most of April went into preparing the next version of the site. This April 2024 pool listings update also covers 52 Washington State reviews, 39 new listings and a net gain of 26.
Site activity
April was mostly about writing the supporting pages for the new version of the site: the About Us page and the two FAQ pages, How to Use and General Questions. We still reviewed and updated 52 of Washington State's 214 listings and about 80 listings elsewhere, but preparing for the site update took most of our time.
The new version of the site is ready. We plan to launch it when the whole team is on hand to respond to any unexpected problems.
An observation about new listings
Of the 39 pools we added in April, 13, or one-third, are in hotels. When we started this database in 1992, our goal was to find pools for traveling swimmers, so we are glad to see so many hotel pools coming in.
Pools of the Month
Two pools caught our attention in April.
The first is in Japan. The Oiso Prince Hotel in Oiso, Kanagawa Prefecture, is hosting an introductory open-water-style swimming event in its 250-meter lazy river, which is shaped like a cotton swab. The resort's pools are open only in summer and do not qualify for a listing on the site, so the hotel is not in the directory.
The second is the 21c Museum Hotel in Saint Louis, Missouri. The hotel occupies a repurposed YMCA that we had listed until it closed a few years ago, and we are pleased that the hotel has kept the pool operational and available. Read why we chose it.
