In both the United States and Canada, it is common for year-round pools to close for maintenance for a week or two at the end of August or the beginning of September. If you're thinking about swimming in that time-frame, you'll be well advised to check the pool's website, Facebook page (if it has one) or, even better, call the pool before going there.
