The pool's three lanes are reasonably sized, but not wide enough to overtake with traffic in the opposite direction. There are no backstroke flags. The water is reasonably flat due to the use of wave suppression barriers and the water being level with the deck. Lane discipline in the early mornings is generally good, with two to three swimmers per lane. Pool toys (pull buoys and kickboards) are provided but feel free to bring your own water wings and yellow rubber ducks.
The club is located in the middle of a very attractive business park with members parking. Unfortunately the pool is situated in a basement with no natural light; the artificial lighting, however, is adequate. Immediately adjacent to the pool are sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi. The shower and changing facilities are clean and well-maintained, all in keeping with what one would expect from a private facility run by Virgin Active.
Overall, it's a pleasant experience for anyone keen on serious lane swimming.
