The good news is that all the public pools on Maui are free. The bad news is that they are free - which invites homeless who stand under the showers for 45 minutes squandering 'free' hot water. Having lived there for a few years, I can tell you that the water can be very cold during the winter months.

This is a really great pool with a friendly staff. I went on a Monday afternoon and pretty much had the pool to myself.

It's a very nice facility and had only modest usage while I was there. Unfortunately the (men's) locker room was filthy. The shower floor was littered with Band-Aids, hair, empty containers, and red fluid. Signs indicate showers are for swimmers only, which may be a red flag.

Lovely pool! Water in April was probably around 83ºF (28ºC). They had the pool set up for short course yards for all days except Thursday, when they had it set up long course meters. The water was very clean. The locker rooms are a little old, but the pool more than makes up for that!

In July, the water is definitely 80ºF. or slightly warmer.

A terrific place to swim. Lots of lanes (short course) on weekday mornings and even in the afternoons on weekends. Great view of the mountains, too. Best of all, it's free! One caution: although they claim the water is 80º, it felt unheated to me.

This pool is a great place to swim. It's free, it's clean, it's quiet and you get to swim in Hawaii. What could be better?
