Kapaa Swimming Pool

A stunning setting right on the beach, no cost to use, and I had a lane to myself when I arrived with three others (all locals) at its 7:30 AM opening time. There was only one person in the entire pool when I finished an hour later. The water isn't heated but was fine for lap swimming.

No prior reservations were requered but there was a one hour limit for an individual session. The pool is open most of the day for lap swimming, though closed completely on Sunday and Monday.

The pool and shower (required to enter the pool) are fairly spartan but still functional.

It's in a beautiful, oceanfront location and has clean water. There are no backstroke flags and no lockers. Lane dividers are present at the site, but were not in use in the pool at the time of either of my two swims. This is Hawaii. It is too much trouble.

There are no mirrors. If one is careful, one can shower all of oneself without exposure to others’ eyes in the outdoor male shower (I did not use the female shower.) Inquire locally about open hours; the web site uses terms such as summer and winter whose local interpretation is not clear, at least not to me.
