Hallenbad Rialto

This is anice pool; the lanes are speed differentiated; and it's good for lap swimming.

The pool reopened in September, 2024, after extensive renovation. It's absolutely pristine - the pool, its surrounding areas, showers and changing rooms are all super clean. The four lanes are designated by speed, but it's a bit random. Mornings tend to be crowded (eight to ten people per lane); midday-is very quiet - you can have a lane to yourself. The weekends, surprisingly, are less busy than weekdays. There's a kids' pool on the level below, so this one tends to be kids-free, even on the weekend. It can have a sort of a recreational vibe, but you can manage (and speed) lap swimming. I quite enjoyed swimming here during the six months I lived in Basel - one wall alongside the pool is floor to ceiling windows with the view onto trees. Single entry is CHF 8 and monthly pass is CHF 45, if you live in Basel - so if you live in Basel and you swim at least six times in a month, it's worth getting the monthly pass. (There's a CHF 10 card deposit charged, which you get back when you return the card. The monthly pass can be topped up online.)
