Freyberg Pool and Fitness Centre

Great pool! Reasonably priced.

Best pool in Wellington. Great location, clean, wide lanes, proper lane ropes, and proper lane control. The staff are great and on the ball. 33m is a good length as it adds good variety to your training. Also it's pretty much an adults-only pool so there is only ever lane swimming. There is no recreation space so precious lanes are never given over to inflatables for kids to play on! If you want to splash with your kids then go outside onto Freyberg beach or go around to Kilbirnie.

Beautiful pool: glass walls, lots of light, great showers, evenings are often crowded.

Rating: 7 on a scale of 10. Built over the bay, unusual length, good for lap swimming.

I'd give it a 9. There are three or four lanes for laps in early morning it's sometimes crowded, other days it's just two in a lane.

A rating of 7 strikes me as low for this pool. It's a great location and a big clean pool. I found the unusual length forced me to step out of the mold of doing 50s all the time in favor of more 100s. I'd give it a 9.
