We finished reviewing the pool listings in Istanbul, Nova Scotia, Indiana and Kentucky in March 2023 and made a start on Illinois. This update's Location of the Month is a cluster of Olympic-standard pools in Doha, Qatar.
Site activity
We finished the municipal pool listings in Istanbul, where we had received some useful information at the end of February. We also completed our review of Nova Scotia and checked every listing in Indiana and Kentucky. We then made a start on Illinois.
In April we plan to continue with Illinois and to clear up all the listings in Prince Edward Island and in Newfoundland and Labrador. We may also return to Italy.
Location of the Month
Instead of a single Pool of the Month, we are pointing to a Location of the Month. We came across a mention of the 21st FINA World Championships, to be held in Doha, Qatar, and checked our information on the event's venue, the Hamad Aquatic Center, also known as the Doha Family Activity Center.
While doing so, we noticed that the Aspire Academy right next door also has a 50-meter competition pool, with an adjacent diving pool and a full complement of diving boards and platforms. The academy's pool appears not to be open to the public. Even so, within about 150 yards there are three Olympic-standard 50-meter competition pools, two 25-meter pools and two diving pools, each with platforms up to 10 meters high.
