July 2024: Settling Into the New Site and Starting California
In July 2024 most of our time went to learning the new site's tools and fixing problems after launch. We still began reviewing California, checked a few listings in Japan and added a net four listings.
Our July 2024 pool listings update is a short one. Most of the month went to settling into the new version of the site, and we still made a start on California and a few listings in Japan.
Site activity
Getting used to the new features and tools took up much of July, and it left us less productive on listing reviews than usual. A few things still need work before we move on to the next site enhancements, but the site is holding up well to the traffic.
Two problems came up during the month. The Suggest change tool in the listings stopped working for a couple of days, and our map service was briefly interrupted on July 30. We restored the map service quickly. Suggest change is the quickest way to tell us when a listing has gone out of date, so please use it.
Listing reviews
During July we got a start on reviewing the listings in California. We also reviewed a few in Japan, whose listings had not been reviewed in ten or twelve years.
Database statistics
Most of the work in July went to addressing problems after the launch, but we kept working on the database. We added 39 new listings and deleted 31, for a net increase of four.
- As of July 31, 2024: 26,361 facilities in 211 countries and 14,512 cities and towns.
- Pools: those facilities have 28,985 full-size, year-round pools, as we define those terms in our FAQ.
- Websites: 24,985 listings (94.8% of all listings) have links to their own official websites, or to non-official sites that we think may be helpful to you.
The site's Top 10 countries have 19,332 listings, broken down as follows, with the change since June:
- United States: 7,764 (-8)
- United Kingdom: 2,210 (no change)
- France: 1,644 (no change)
- Germany: 1,570 (no change)
- Spain: 1,483 (+2)
- Italy: 1,175 (no change)
- Canada: 1,004 (-1)
- Australia: 966 (+1)
