February 2019: Portugal Reviewed, Virginia Begun and 49 New Listings
In February 2019 we finished Portugal's 330 listings, began reviewing Virginia and added 49 listings net. This update also explains the order of our reviews and gives the database statistics as of February 26, 2019.

Listing reviews
We are continuing the second complete review of every listing in the database, which began in 2014. So far we have finished Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, France, Spain and Portugal.
In February we finished the last 70 of Portugal's 330 listings and then started on Virginia, the last of the 50 U.S. states to be reviewed in this round. We are more than halfway through its 216 listings.
What comes next
Next we plan to review Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Italy. Because listings in the United States are the most numerous, and because most of the site's users are in the United States, we will also return to New England and restart our U.S. checks between the European countries.
Germany has almost 1,500 listings, so we may review one or two federal states there, move to a U.S. state, then do another German federal state or two. That way the U.S. listings do not go stale.
Database statistics
- February 2019 changes: we added 49 new listings, net.
- As of February 26, 2019: 24,206 swimming facilities in 200 countries and 13,284 cities.
- Pools: those facilities have 26,306 full-size, year-round pools, as we define those terms in our FAQ.
