April 2020: Redesigned Site Opens With the 50 Nearest Pools
In April 2020 Places2Swim relaunched with a redesigned home page that opens on a map of the fifty listed pools closest to you, plus a search window for anyone who has blocked location services.
This special edition April 2020 pool listings update announces that Places2Swim has been almost totally re-engineered. The home page now opens with a map and the fifty listed facilities closest to you.
The redesigned home page
If your device has location services enabled, the home page opens by itself with a map and a facility list of the fifty closest listings. There are no buttons to press and no data to type.
If you have blocked location services in your device or browser, the home page opens with a search window instead. Enter your search criteria and press Enter to see the fifty listings closest to that location.
In both cases, the list beneath the map shows all fifty closest listings, rather than ten with an option to see more. The maps that appear are now OpenStreetMap maps.
Our FAQ page explains how to use the site under "How to use this site", including how to enable or block location services in your browser or smartphone.
Listing and Add a Pool fixes
The listing page itself has not changed much. If you select an Edit or Add button within a listing, you now return to that listing when you finish suggesting changes or cancel, instead of landing on the home page.
We also fixed a problem in the Add A Pool section, where the form could fail when you answered one of the questions.
What's next
Once the site is operating and looking as we want, we plan further enhancements. If you run into a problem on the new site, please contact us. To correct or add details to a listing, use the Edit button within it.
