Your Places2Swim account
You can search pools and read listings without an account. A free account adds your Swim Passport and ways to help the directory.
What you can do today
- Stamp the pools you swim: a flag for every country, a map that fills in and medals for milestones.
- Save pools with the heart and find them again in Favorites.
- Share your passport as an image or a link.
- Write reviews with an optional star rating, and suggest new pools or corrections for editorial review.
Future features will be described on our Milestones page as they become available.
The information you provide
Signing up asks for a display name, email address and password. Your email is used for account access, verification and password recovery. Your password is stored as a hash, rather than as readable text.
Your account also stores saved favorites, swim logs (your passport stamps) and optional profile details you provide. Reviews and listing contributions are intended for publication; use a display name you are comfortable sharing and keep personal contact information out of review text.
Browser location access is optional and used only to show nearby facilities. You can search by city or address instead.
Account access and control
Signing in uses an authentication session, and access to your saved favorites and swim logs requires authentication. You can sign out and request a password reset if you forget your password.
To ask about your data, contact the Places2Swim editors. Messages sent through the Contact form go to the editors by email and are kept so any of them can follow up.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time: sign in, open Settings and choose Delete account. Deleting it permanently removes your account and sign-in details, your saved favorites and your swim logs (your passport stamps). It cannot be undone.
What you contributed stays on Places2Swim. Your reviews and ratings, photos, travel tips, and suggested pools and corrections remain on the site and in the editors’ records, but we remove your name and email address from them and show them as Anonymous. If you haven’t verified your email address, we can’t tell which contributions are yours, so they keep your name: verify it before deleting your account (Settings sends the email), or ask the editors. We don’t edit what you wrote, so a name you typed into a review’s text stays unless you ask the editors to change it.
Read our Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy, which covers what we collect, who helps us run Places2Swim and how long we keep it.
