Virágfürdő Kaposvár: Next Door to Hungary's 2023 Championship Pool
Virágfürdő Kaposvár, a pool complex in Kaposvár, Hungary, stands next to the new competition pool that hosted the 2023 Hungarian National Championships. It was one of our two Pools of the Month for April 2023.

Why Virágfürdő Kaposvár stands out
Virágfürdő Kaposvár has an indoor/outdoor 50-meter pool and a 25-meter indoor pool. When we featured it, the 50-meter pool was open to the public only in summer.
The city had outgrown that 50-meter pool, and the new competition pool (versenyuszoda in Hungarian) was built next door. It appears that the new pool will not be open to the public at all, so visiting swimmers should look to Virágfürdő Kaposvár.
Two very different venues
We paired Kaposvár with the Tokyo Aquatics Center, the swimming venue of the 2020 Olympics, which had just opened to the public. The contrast is what interested us: Tokyo's Olympic pools welcomed public swimmers, while Hungary's new championship pool appears to be closed to them. Our profile of the Tokyo Aquatics Center describes the Japanese venue.
Virágfürdő Kaposvár was one of Places2Swim's two Pools of the Month for April 2023. Check its listing above for current details, including when the 50-meter pool is open, before you go.
