Westwood Pool

This is an aging, public, indoor pool with many finer outdoor options to the West. But it has relatively expansive lap swim hours and the entrance fee is hard to beat. The water is on the warm side; the lanes are too narrow; but the pool is rarely crowded.

The less said about the changing facilities and showers, the better. There's plenty of parking, except on the weekend. If you swim here with any regularity, sign up for the email list to be notified of sudden closures (staff shortages, pool malfunction) which will occur from time to time.

This pool is good for lap swimming and seems well-maintained for an old one. The locker rooms are very, very basic.

Rating 5 on a scale of 10.

Not fabulous, but far better than most of the alternatives. It’s 25m; the temperature isn’t too warm; parking isn’t bad; it’s cheap; and I haven’t found it too crowded. Also it’s mostly lap swimmers and the lanes are speed segregated, so sharing isn’t so bad.
