Facility Notes

The temperature shown is typical of in late spring and summer. The pond is cooler to downright cold the rest of the year.

There is a small roped-off area that is guarded in summer until about 5:30 P.M. - the locals start showing up for a real swim around 6 P.M. The pond is usually "swimmable" until mid or late October.

This is unguarded, unsupervised open water swimming AT YOUR OWN RISK. The state has prepared an informational Flyer about Walden Pond.

Swim in your high school reading assignment!

I've been hitting Walden Pond on every trip to the Boston area for over ten years. It's not your traditional pool, but serious swimmers will love this place.
