Tynemouth is a typical municipal pool from the 1970s that has recently had its changing facilities renewed to a high standard. The main pool itself has changed very little, except that it no longer uses chlorine. It's sub-divided at one end to provide an extra part for classes or children's play. (There is also a 3 foot deep pool of a reasonable size for learners which is a separate room).The gym is small but well equipped. There are various classes. There is no café or social facilities. If you're a swimmer, beware between 4 and 5 PM, when it's used predominantly by school children.
