Tromsøbadet

This is a modern, new facility. The highlight for lap swimmers is the 50m, 10 lane pool. During my midday visit the pool was divided by bulkheads into a school and children's part, and 4 lanes of 25m lap swimming for adults. The water temperature was 27ºC. Theoretically, the lap lanes are designated as fast, medium, or slow but the designations were not followed. I chose the medium lane with two other swimmers. Later, two older women joined and were slow, but it was easy to move over to another lane that had two other swimmers.

In addition to the 50-meter pool, there is also an activity pool for families, heated to 33ºC (91ºF), as well as a warm-water swim-out channel to an outdoor infinity-type pool along one side of the building measuring about 20m x 5m. A café and snack bar is at one end of the activity pool. Like many pools in Scandinavia there is a sauna, very pleasant after lap swimming.

I recommend this facility!

Take in the panorama views from the heated, outdoor pool, before soaking in the wellness area. Heat up in the hot Finnish sauna and steam bath. Finish off with a refreshing dip in the cold plunge-pool, if you dare! For active swimmers, the Olympic size pool with diving facilities up to 10-meters is just the right thing. A wave machine, paddling pool and exciting water slides will keep the kids occupied.
