This is a nice, outdoor pool right on the recently redeveloped Strand promenade. For such a prominently located pool, it was surprisingly quiet, with only one or two people per lane in the mornings. There are two pools at this complex: a 50m lap pool and a smaller, 25m pool that was much warmer and appeared to be more for children and relaxing. The 50m pool was great for swimming laps. It was clean, partially covered with a shade structure, and heated, although a little on the cooler side.
The changing rooms are certainly showing their age and could use a good renovation. There didn’t appear to be any hot water in the showers, and there are no lockers are available at this pool, so most people just kept their things on the pool deck.
Overall, it's good place for laps if you’re in Townsville.
