The Spa at Terranea

This is more a resort pool than a lap-swimming pool, the focus is on lying around the deck on sun beds. The other people in the pool, a maximum of five at any time I was in the water, were generally affable about staying out of my way as a lap swimmer. I was a curiosity for them. The water is a bit too warm, maybe mid-80ºs Fahrenheit, although the staff at the spa desk said it was over 90ºF. They did not, however, know the length of the pool, whether it was 25-yards or 25-meters [It's definitely 25-yards. (Eds.)]. Staff said a day-pass for non-hotel-guests would cost US$95 for the day. I don't think that would be worth it.

I've swum here several times (once a year) over the past several years. Lap swimming is encouraged prior to 8 AM. The water is a little warm and the pool striping on the bottom is curvy; there are no lane lines, so it can be a good open water practice if there are several swimmers. The view is spectacular.
