There was no lane at the noon swim, but the place was so quiet that it made little difference. The wave effect was not in operation at lunchtime, though it might be in the evening. The lockers now take a £1 deposit.

The cafe is now officially gone. The flume was open today, being the school holidays. The noon to 1 PM lane was wide and deserted. The wave effect was run twice in less than an hour and is terrific to swim in.

My lunchtime swim cost only £2.95. As I arrived I asked about lanes which prompted the receptionist to phone to check the lane was out as it should be (12 to 1 Mon to Fri). When I got to the pool, there was an unmarked lane which I occupied entirely on my own for an hour. The pool is dominated by a large flume but the swimming area was quiet when I was there. The water is at a very comfortably cool temperature for lap swimming and two feet or so below the level of the edge of the pool, making the ladders essential kit. Changing and showers are segregated. 20p deposit for lockers. Both the flume and the cafe were closed when I visited.
