The Anaheim Hotel

I needed to attend a meeting in the Disneyland neighborhood and picked this hotel because of the pool. Big mistake. The pool is unswimable. The water was very cloudy at 8 AM, its opening time. The chemical load was unbearable. I swam 1,000 yards and cried uncle. It’s too bad.

The hotel is a lovely throwback to earlier days in Southern California. No inside corridors. Lovely, breezy walkways throughout the property. The pool is large and unlike today’s hotel pools, has a deep end. The pool area is large and pretty.

What a disappointment!

This pool is right in the theme park area, saving vacationers from having to get on the freeway to go to pools in Fullerton or La Mirada. It's a hotel pool, so it's not perfect conditions. The hotel itself is dated, but clean with reasonable rates. This pool is a hidden gem and can't be seen from the street.
Pros:

• This is the ONLY pool in the immediate resort area configured for lap swimming.
• The water temperature is OK.
• I was the only one in the pool at 9 AM.
• Access to the pool is free for guests registered at the hotel.

Cons:

• There are no lane ropes and there was a rope (with no buoys) across the lanes to divide shallow water from deeper water.
