Svimjihøllin í Gundadali

I swam here in the 8 AM session on a Sunday morning in June, 2024. On a Friday pre-visit, a lifeguard had advised that Sunday afternoons can get full with kids. During my swim it was mainly older people, which was fine and I was able to swim laps. Circle swimming was the rule, but a couple of people didn't adhere to it; still, it was not a problem to swim around them.

I had visited a pool in Iceland a couple of days earlier, so I knew of the requirement to shower naked thoroughly with soap before entering the pool. It's not a problem and nobody cares how you look, as long as you really shower naked with soap.

All in all, I liked this pool very much. It's an attractive, conventional pool.

I visited this pool last summer. It is an amazing public facility with cool architecture. It's super clean with a friendly staff, and a four-story tall water slide that you can use after you get tired of swimming laps.

Svimjihøllin is the only facility in Tórshavn where you can swim. Despite its lack of competition, it's very clean and has reasonable opening hours and favorable prices. Some foreigners may find it awkward to completely undress for the showers - butnot doing so will bring stares from the locals stare for lack of cleanliness. The men's sauna regularly hosts locals discussing fishing, farming, and politics. Don't hesitate to take part - whatever is said in the sauna, stays in the sauna.
