I swam two days at the Shasta YMCA. The first day was a weekday, and I was thrilled to get in for a swim at 5 AM. I had the lane to myself for the entire swim, about 90 minutes, and there were few swimmers when I left.
On Saturday, I went to the pool at 7 AM. A posted sign said at 7:30 AM the main lap pool would be unavailable, there was a swim meet. I was directed to "Y South," a facility adjacent to the main Y building. Y South has an indoor, 3 lane, 20-yard pool. I swam my 90-minute workout alone in the Y South pool, but other swimmers began to show up as I got out of the pool.
Both pools were well staffed. It's a great location, less than a 10-minute walk to downtown hotels.
