Shanghai Pudong Natatorium | 浦东游泳馆

This is a very nice pool. The length is 50 metres but the width is a bit more than 25 metres - probably about 27 or 28; it's a bit odd. The right of way problem is as others have mentioned - but this is not unlike some European public pools. I did encounter a guy swimming rectangularly. The water is slightly warm for lap swimming. The pool is located in a residential area. Cabs are hard to get. It's ½ mile from the subway stations.

Locals seem to be unable to swim one length without spitting in the water… So dirty…

Great pool, good water quality and temp. Main problem is “right of way”. The locals swim crosswise (25m), lengthwise (50m) ducking under the rope that divides deep from shallow, and around the rectangle doing ‘laps'. One would think freestyle would have some sort of right of way, but the breaststrokers just keep coming. Tough to get an interval workout in, although they do have a pretty good clock.
