Shalom Austin JCC

The facility underwent a complete rebuild in 2021 and reopened in 2022. It's an 8-lane 25-yard pool that meets USA swimming requirements. The shallow end is 4ft for safe flip turns and the deep end is 8ft for safe diving from starting blocks.

Outdoor bathrooms and concession area available. There's also a children's activity pool with a zero-depth to 3ft of water. The activity pool is complete with youth slides, slash zones, dumping buckets, and climbing features. There are two new 30 ft slides for anyone 48" and taller.

And there's plenty of deck space, which includes tables, umbrellas, chairs, and chaises.

Programs include:
Swim lessons and swim team for all ages
Water Fitness classes
Lifeguard training

The pool is well maintained. Heated in winter, to about 78ºF. Cool on entry, it feels great after a few hundred yards. In summer an aerator is used to cool the pool, which tends to get warm.

Open year round, I've swum there when it is 28ºF. (-2ºC.), with a cold rain, blowing wind [guards and coach wishing it weren't so].

It's a standard locker room with individual showers (including soap and shampoo). Bring your own towel and lock (though I think you can borrow both from the front desk). The locker room has a sauna and a whirlpool.
