Sean McDermott Street Swimming Pool

I visited Sean McDermott St Swimming Pool in May, 2025, on a weekday morning. The pool was less than 10 minutes' walk from our hotel near O'Connell Street. I arrived when they opened at 7AM and swam for about 50 minutes. I had a lane to myself the whole time. The only interruption was when the lifeguard stopped me to say they require swim caps. No problem, he gave me a "Swim Ireland" cap to keep! The pool was well staffed and a great place for my morning swim.

Reasonably clean but looks like a prison outside. Still, lanes are provided on some sessions, and if it's not too busy the 45 minutes will be 'blind-eyed'.

I’ve been going here for a couple of years and never witnessed any antisocial behaviour. Sean Mc Dermott St. is tagged by small-minded people with no knowledge of the area. O’Connell St. is far more dangerous at night.

Although it's just ½ mile from O'Connell St., it’s a rough area and needs its security. Beware if you visit after dark.
