As it was summer and the outdoor pool was open, the staff at the indoor pool recommended I go to the outdoor pool to swim serious laps and not get too hot. The outdoor pool is 1.1 km around the corner (Here's a Google Map showing the route). The outdoor pool is 25m, 8 lanes, and costs €4.20 with no time limit.

It's a nice, shiny, new pool. Half the pool is roped-off for laps, the other half is for open swim. Like most pools in Germany, nobody pays attention to fast or slow lanes, but everybody was very nice.
