Piscinas Municipais de Tavira

The pool has eight 25-meter lanes and there is a 16.67-meter, 29.5ºC (85.1ºF), two-lane, leisure pool used for water exercise classes.

To enter the pool, one is required to provide identification (foreigners use their passports) and fill out a form. A swim cap and pool footwear are required; lockers are available but bring your own lock.

The pools are beautiful and clean (without using chlorine or salt?) and the staff have been VERY accommodating - plus their English is SO much better than my Portuguese.

During school holidays, this facility seems to be underutilized and therefore is ideal for serious swimming. I swam there twice during the Easter holiday in 2016 and saw only a handful of swimmers. In principle, you can swim for one hour maximum. Note that you need to bring an ID, and that a close-fitting swim suit, a swim cap, and flip-flops are required. The price for non-residents was €2.50.
