Facility Notes
NOTE: In May, 2024, we were advised that the pool is closed and the object of a dispute between the city, which oversees the pool on behalf of the Peruvian State, and Aqualab, the then-current pool operator. Our correspondent indicated that the dispute is likely to take years to be resolved.
A post on the municipality's Facebook page on May 5, 2025, indicated that the city had been succesful in wresting the property from Aqualab, but we have not found anything to indicate when the pool might reopen. (Read the post HERE.
But wait, there's more...
But wait, there's more...
In an Instagram post, also dated in May, 2025, Aqualab, the company that had operated the pool for ~20 years contradicted the city's assertion that it (the city) had won the litigation claiming, instead, that Aqualab had retained legal possession of the property.
In an odd turn of fate we are advised that, although Aqualab did, in fact, prevail in the litigation, they were so worn-down by the legal maneuvering, that they have surrendered the pool to the city. Now that the situation has settled, we still don't know when the pool will reopen.
