When I walked out of the Memorial Park locker room, the air temperature was 32ºF (0ºC). It had snowed two days before, and the icy deck mat crunched under my bare feet. Once in the pool, the cold winter day was behind me. The temperature of the water was very comfortable for swimming laps, and it was a treat swimming outdoors that time of year.
The pool is well staffed, including a lifeguard. It's located about a 15-minute walk from downtown Grass Valley, but there is also plenty of parking. Lap swimming opens at 9 AM, Monday - Saturday, with the Masters team using the pool starting at 6:30 AM on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 7 AM on Saturday.
It's a really great location, really great pool, and really great price. The YMCA keeps updated information on their website.
