Meadowlands Leisure Pool

The staff are friendly and welcoming, and the pool is warm and clean. It is well attended by lifeguards and, because of its curvy shape, feels cozy and non-intimidating. Even if there had been no other reason to love Tavistock, Meadowlands has been my best treat for years.

Looking its age - getting rather tatty and grubby. The changing cubicles are small and some have broken locks; clothing lockers also small, with a number broken. The ladies lavatory is filthy and smells.

The pool has a schedule for sessions catering for family sessions, adults only ,50+, disability swim, and lane swimming. Unfortunately, these are ignored by keep-fit enthusiasts who power swim at will on any session - consequently for safety the manager has to put in a lane barrier to protect the leisure swimmers, thus reducing the already moderately sized pool by a third.

The Wet and Wild sessions at week-ends and school holidays are a disappointment, as the pumps never seem to work at full capacity and only somebody with the weight of a 10-year old can fully enjoy the water slides without having a bruised rear end!

The place needs a good clean and refurbish.

This pool is a great fun family pool.
