From the exterior, this is a rather unassuming building and, while it's not "flashy" on the inside, it is a swimmer's swim pool, built for training and OPEN for training however you want. When I went there in May 2022, they had generous morning lap lanes and the pool configured for LCM, SCY and SCM all at the same time. It was magical as they had "half a bulkhead" that crossed six lanes to create the SCM course in the shallow end and the SCY course in the deep end, leaving the remaining five lanes setup for LCM training. Big digital pace clocks on the walls at each end of the pool were synchronized to each other and synchronized to the actual time making it perfect for a hard workout.
Personally, I would have liked to see more of a museum or plaques or other documentation of Mary T. Meagher's (a/k/a "Madam Butterfly") prodigious accomplishments around the facility, as she was a once-in-a-generation athlete who showed up on the scene far, far, far ahead of the world. Do people understand that her world record 200 fly time from 1981 (which lasted for almost 20 years) would have still made all Olympic teams including 2008, 2012 and 2016? More people need to be reminded of her greatness as they walk into this wonderful aquatic center.
