This is/was a very nice pool. The description above is correct that it is on a hillside with views of the entire valley below. I have passed through Madras several times over the past 15 or 20 years. The pool has been consistently closed or even shut down for several months at a time. I was in Madras in late June 2025. The pool was closed and a sign on the door said it would reopen in Fall 2025. The facility also has a workout area as well.
I read in the local paper that two recent ballot initiatives failed to provide permanent funding for the facility. This is shameful, especially during summer when kids need recreation and swimming lessons. The article I read said maintenance is also lacking and the facility is deteriorating, causing added future problems. I think that a takeover by the YMCA might solve these problems.
