Formerly called the Sumida City Gymnasium, the pool here is shallow but good for lap swimming. At its 9 AM opening on a Saturday, four of the seven lanes were dedicated to lap swimming, circle swimming (counterclockwise). There was no speed designation, but the etiquette was reasonable. I shared what was probably the fastest lane with two or three others.
You buy a ticket from a machine before queuing and keep the ticket for when you leave. It's a good idea to bring extra coins for a locker and drink. Swim caps and 'modest' attire are required. Women were in regular one-piece suits and the smallest male suit I saw was a cropped jammer. The fast swimmers were all in jammers.
