The pool used for lap swimming (lane swimming in Scotland) is shallow, making it difficult to do flip turns. The lanes are narrow, making it hard to pass when it gets crowded. The locker room is co-ed, which means it has private changing rooms but shared showers (people keep their suits on when they shower). There is no soap in the showers so bring your own. Also bring a towel and a £1.00 coin to remove the key from the lockers (the coin is returned when you return the key).
