Gallup Aquatic Center

This is a modern facility that opened in 2006. It has very good water quality and was uncrowded at early morning laps (four swimmers in eight lanes). As mentioned in the first review, the water is slightly warm. The locker and shower facilities are good; the staff is friendly.

This is a lovely pool: eight wide lanes, clean, good hours, lovely staff. The temperature runs a little warm: I am guessing 83º - 84ºF (28º - 29ºC); never unbearable but never optimal. Also, it's at an elevation of 6,000 feet (1,828 meters), so there is not enough oxygen for flatlanders. Punch cards are available for longer stays. No Masters team. Good hours daily, call to confirm to special events on the weekends. This pool is a special place in an impoverished area where nothing else is open or seems to work.
