There are two areas roped off for swimming. There is a "swim autobahn" that uses two lanes - you swim down one side, cross under the lane line holder, and swim back down the other lane next to the wall. A stainless steel pipe at the ends creates an arch for the lane line so that crossing from one lane to the other is unencumbered. It is more difficult than circle swimming since a whole lane has to be traversed rather than a half lane.
