As we've indicated in the pool's name field, above, this is a wave pool and there are photographs of the pool in full wave-pool operation on its website and associated with its Google Maps listing. Most wave pools operate the wave generating machinery on regular schedules, the first ten minutes of every hour or one half-hour at the beginning of every two hours. But there isn't much on the Ellwanger Wellenbad's website schedule about when or how often the wave generator is in operation here; it notes only that on Tuesdays from 7 to 9 PM there is a women's swimming session with no wave operation and on Thursdays from 6 to 9 PM there is lap swimming with no wave machine operation.

In light of the above, swimmers may be well-advised to call the pool before going to be sure they'll be able to get some laps in during their visit there.

The pool is actually a single 34m x 16m, 6 lane tank with a bulkhead that is used to divide it into a 25m x 16m lap or competition pool and a 16m x 9m children's or teaching pool.
