Carson City Aquatic Facility

The pools are very nice and clean. The staff is friendly. When I was there on a Friday around noon it was not very crowded. The pool was set up for short-course swimming, but the staff told me that it is set up for long course swimming on Sundays and sometimes Monday mornings. There is no suit spinner in the men's locker room. The showers are very low-flow, like little jets pushing out more air than water. There is an outdoor pool with a big slide but it was also reserved for lap swimming when I was there. Don't forget that you are swimming at altitude in Carson City.

This is an Olympic-size pool, but seems to be set up for "short-course" lap swimming (25-yard lengths across the width of the pool) most of the time. I have never had to wait for a lane, and often have one to myself. If you're going to be around for a while, you can buy a 10-swim punch pass for $30 and save a dollar per swim! This in a no-frills facility (bring your own everything). Also, check the schedule before you go - there is no lap swimming from 2 to 4 PM, and the pool is sometimes closed for meets, etc.
