Cameron Family YMCA

This pool is great, and the staff and lifeguards are very friendly and helpful. Kickboards, pull buoys, and other aquatic fitness equipment are available for use. On a weekday morning (7 to 8 AM) and Friday evening, it was practically empty. The pool can be busy with lessons and classes after noon on other weekdays, but I was still able to get my own lane.

The locker rooms are well maintained and clean. The women's locker room has only three shower stalls, so you may need to wait for a shower if the facility is busy or at closing time.

The information about creating an account and getting set up in the system is still accurate, so be sure to allow time for that on your first visit. This is a cashless facility; they saved my credit card to my account, so I just tell the front desk person my name and they charge my card as I enter.

This is a very nice facility. There are two pools — one dedicated to lap swimming, the other a family pool with slides. On a hot August day, the family pool was crowded, but the lap pool wasn’t; I had my own lane. The lap pool is open many more hours than family pool — check the website or (better) call before heading over.

The locker rooms are adequate with common showers; bring a padlock.

Note that if it’s your first time you’ll have to provide ID, fill out a waiver, and then wait about 20 minutes while they create a full account for you in their system; this can be frustrating if you only have limited time to swim.

The pool is open to public only Wednesday thru Sunday, with just two hours a day available, except on weekends, when there are two, two-hour sessions offered.

It's a great place for kids. There is a slide and a water park-type structure that are very entertaining. The fee covers a two hour session, after which the pool is cleared for the next group. It's free if you're a member. It does get crowded during the summer, so if you're looking for someplace quiet to relax, this probably isn't it.
