The pool is not open to the public; only Caltech affiliates are allowed to open a membership, unless you join the Masters team, which practices twice a week (they are adding an extra early morning slot for summer only). Entry to Pool 1 is from the deck or by ladder entry only; the adjacent pool has a handicap assisted entry. There are two digital clocks on different sides of the pool. The pool also has backstroke flags (some LA city pools don't have these)! Kickboards and pull buoys are provided. The water looks clean (or because it was dark… I could not tell), and the water temperature felt like 80º - 82ºF but, since SoCal nights get cold, the pool temperature is nice. Aside from the Masters team, the other adjacent pool for lap swimming was empty after 7 PM.
I guess they've upgraded the locker rooms since the last review. No locks are needed, they're built into the lockers, and there are closed-door showers. There is also an open-air Jacuzzi, but the temperature feels sad - mid-90s.
Parking is free before 8 AM and after 5 PM. There's plenty of parking space in the underground. Some people use street parking, as well.
