Badezentrum Sindelfingen

They have roped-off Lane #5 so it's always available for public lap swimming. This is new and it is not shown on the Belegungsplan. The crowding situation on weekday evenings has been relieved a bit. On the weekend, five lanes are available for lap swimming. It still pays to check the Belegungsplan and the calendar to see if the pool has a swim meet scheduled.

They have a reduced price for admission after 6 PM, so a lot of people wait until then to go swimming. As a result, there is usually a wave of swimmers getting in the pool at 6, making the lanes crowded. If you swim here often, you can buy a card (a Wertkarte), put €50 on it, and then get a 10% discount. The 10% discount does not apply to the 6 PM price. Arriving at 4 PM or so, you can beat the crowds and swim with two or three people, at most, in a 50m lane. Using the discount card, I pay only €0.80 more than the after 6 PM price and there are fewer people in the lane.

The outdoor, 50 meter pool is open from early May to early September (May 6 - Sept. 10 in 2017]. It closes at 8 PM. The changing area is about five meters from the pool edge, so you can put your suit on in a heated area and jump in. There's no crowd when the weather is cooler and they stay open no matter how cool it is.

This a very nice pool but, unfortunately, too many of the hours in the four, roped-off lanes are reserved for schools or clubs in the evening. They publish a lane schedule so you can see what the optimal times are for swimming in a lane in graphical form. To find the lane schedule, go to the pool's schedule of open hours and look for the PDF file titled Belegungsplan des 50m Sportschwimmbeckens.

Best time to swim was 6 - 7 PM, before the Masters’ workout and after the kids after-school traffic disperses. You can swim laps in the “open” part after 7 PM, but it’s like the start of a lake swim!

This place is awesome! It has a 50m, 8 lane, indoor pool and a 50m, 10 lane, outdoor pool. Very clean, clear water. Good water temperature. The Australians trained here for the 2004 Olympics. The best time to swim is not in the evening, as the lanes are reserved for swim clubs.
