This is an excellent facility. They combine two adjacent lanes into one circle-swimming lane by elevating the ropes at both ends. This ingenious invention avoids swimmers clashing with the oncoming swimmers while overtaking. Although not everybody in this lane is a fast swimmer, as the signposting suggests, it really works. Two more lanes allotted for slower swimmers in an open area section, the rest (four lanes) is for clubs. There is a lane plan, as, on some evenings there is water polo, too. The water temperature in the sports pool is 28ºC, which is more than most German pools these days.
They also have warmer pools for kids and water gymnastics, a whirlpool, diving boards and so on, as well as a very popular sauna area, which costs extra.
The only downside is that the pool is located in a park, which is very dark at night in winter, so it’s not for the timid. There is a bus stop with the time for the next bus displayed at the reception and bike racks as well as bike boxes for safe storage.
