The Altavista Area YMCA has two buildings, approximately 250 yards from each other. The Athletic Center building is on Seventh Street, which is the address shown on its website. The Family Center building, which houses the swimming pool is on Franklin Avenue, on the other side of the War Memorial Park baseball and softball fields.

When we called the YMCA about its Day Pass policies and fees in February, 2019, we were advised that the Y does not offer day passes to people who just drop-in, but the receptionist volunteered that people staying in a local hotel can usually get a pass from the hotel. So we Googled "Altavista YMCA Hotel" and came up with pages for the Quality Suites, referred to above, and Frazier 102, both of which advertise the availability of YMCA passes for guests. It's likely there are others so, if you're planning a trip to Altavista, check with your hotel to see if it also has passes for the Y.
