September 2023: Minnesota Reviewed and Two New Pools Opened
In September 2023 we wrapped up Minnesota, kept working on Wales and Ireland and began Iowa. Our Pools of the Month are two newly opened facilities, in Parramatta, Australia, and Bern, Switzerland.
September 2023 saw the end of our Minnesota review and further work on pool listings in Wales, Ireland and Iowa. Two newly opened pools, in Parramatta, Australia, and Bern, Switzerland, are the Pools of the Month in this update.
Site activity
In September we wrapped up our review of the listings in Minnesota and continued with Wales and Ireland. In Wales only four counties remain, with 22 listings to review. In Ireland we are less than halfway through County Dublin, with 180 listings to go, which will take some time. We also began Iowa, reviewing 6 of its 110 listings and leaving 104 to go.
Progress in October will be slow. Alongside the reviews, we are devoting a good amount of time to making sure the next edition of the site works properly. For the last few years we have been working with our programming partners to move the site's code and database to more modern formats. Almost everything in the sections where users provide feedback has to be rewritten, and every rewrite has to be tested and retested.
Pools of the Month
Two new facilities share the honor this month. In September the Sydney suburb of Parramatta inaugurated the Parramatta Aquatic Centre, with a 50-meter outdoor pool and a 25-meter indoor pool. Read about the Parramatta Aquatic Centre.
The Swiss city of Bern also opened a new facility, the Schwimmhalle Neufeld, which has a 50-meter pool and two 25-meter pools. The 50-meter pool has a bulkhead that can be deployed across half of it. Read about the Schwimmhalle Neufeld.
